Located at a distance of 15 Kms from Kottayam District in Kerala, Vembanad Lake is the largest freshwater lake in Asia. With lush green surroundings and flourished vegetation, it is a famous picnic destination for local people as well as to foreigners.

If you love birds, it is the best place to visit. Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary which is spread over an area of 14 acres on the banks of Vembanad Lake. Here, you can watch range of migratory birds. The best time to visit the sanctuary is between June to August and to watch migratory birds, suitable time is between November to February.
