Udaipur- which is popularly known with names like City of Lakes or Venice of the East is indeed a most beautiful city in the state of Rajasthan. City is beautifully adorned with Pichola Lake, Fateh Sagar Udai Sagar and Swaroop Sagar, surrounded by ancient Aravalli Mountain. Established in 1599 by Maharana Udai Singh, son of the legendary Maharana Pratap of Mewar, this city was the capital of the kingdom of Mewar.
Udiapur is considered as one of the most celebrated tourist destinations in the state of Rajasthan with beautiful lakes and impressive architectural Palaces. There are number of palatial establishments and many of them have been converted to luxury hotels that have often been booked by rich and celebrities in the world to solemnize their marriage or organize some big parties. Palaces exhibit the impressive architectural skills and its lanes, gardens and breathtaking picturesque still testifies the royalty and chivalry of by-gone era.
Lake Palace which is established on the island of Pichola Lake and City Palace is another beautiful establishment and has been considered as architectural jewel of Udaipur. Udaipur Solar Observatory which is one of the six stations participating in the international Global Oscillations Network Group has been established at the centre of Fateh Sagar Lake. Udaipur has its own peculiarities and cultures and one can buy items like dye fabrics, brightly coloured toys, enamel jewelry, clay pottery (terracotta) as souvenirs from Udaipur’s famous markets Bapu Bazar, Bada Bazar, Chetak Circle and Hathipol.
