Taj Mahal – The Monument of Love |

Taj Mahal is a spectacular historical monument built-up by Mughal emperor Shah Jehan in memory of her beloved wife Arjumand Banu who was later given the name Mumtaz Mahal. Located in the city of Agra in the state of Uttar Pradesh, this monument is considered one of the famous architecture of Mughal Empire and comes under Seven Wonders of the World.
Mumtaz was so beautiful that Shah Jahan loved her so much when she was alive; she used to accompany her husband during his military campaigns. Mumtaz and Shah Jehan got married in 1612 and had 14 children over the next 18 years. But unfortunately Mumtaz died during the delivery of their last daughter Gauhara Begum. Various resources has revealed that Shah Jehan was deeply shattered by the death of her wife and ordered to build up a most attractive mausoleum in order to honor her death and live with her memories afresh.
Taj Mahal meaning crown palace was started building up on 1932 and the main marbled dome was completed on 1948 but it took another five years to complete the complex erect domed chambers that stood at four corners of the dome, its garden and surroundings.
Beauty of Taj Mahal shows the architectural proficiency of Mughal architect. In and out of entire mausoleum is remarkably decorated with flowery designs and the main archway is encrypted with verses of Quran. Inscription of Quran verses are so customized that they appear uniform regardless of the height. It was noted that twenty thousand workers continuously worked for twenty two years and 32 million rupee was expected to be used for building this monument.
The architectural complex is comprised of five main segments such as the Darwaza or main gateway, the Bageecha or garden, the Masjid or mosque, the Naqqar Khana or rest house, and the Rauza or the Taj Mahal mausoleum.
