Kovalam - Famous Beach in Kerala |

Kovalam beach which is a famous beach in Malabar Coast of Kerala is named after the nearby village Kovalam. Kovalam meaning the grove of coconut tree is indeed a right name for the place since there are plenty of coconut groves and its palm-fringed beaches give a perfect idea of relaxation to visiting tourists.
Situated at a distance of 10 kms south of Kerala’s capital Thiruvananthapuram, Kovalam beach has three distinct crescent shaped beaches called Lighthouse Beach, Hawah Beach and Samudra Beach.
The most famous among the three is the Lighthouse Beach which has a lighthouse on the promontory at the south end of the beach, from where you can see the spectacular view of the Arabian Sea and of the Vizhinzam mosque.
One can enjoy and relax by strolling around the beaches, take sunbath, swim, go for a catamaran ride, go surfing, windsurfing, parasailing, kayaking and opt for Ayurvedic oil massage to get further relaxation. Despite being a beach resort, Kovalam is growing fast as yoga and health care centre as experts teaches intricacies of yoga and meditation here.
Kovalam is well connected with other town and cities such as Ernakulam, Kanyakumari, Periyar Wildlife sanctuary by roadways and the nearest airport from Kovalam is Thiruvanthapuram which is 14 Kms away. The ideal time to visit the place is between the months of November to February since the temperature would be moderate and weather pleasant.
