Kerala is known for network of lakes, canals and estuaries of forty-four river whose water decants into Arabian Sea from Western Ghats. Among the lakes in Kerala backwaters, the second largest is the Ashtamudi Lake.
Vembanad Lake
Located at a distance of 15 Kms from Kottayam District in Kerala, Vembanad Lake is the largest freshwater lake in Asia. With lush green surroundings and flourished vegetation, it is a famous picnic destination for local people as well as to foreigners.
Kovalam - Famous Beach in Kerala
Kovalam beach which is a famous beach in Malabar Coast of Kerala is named after the nearby village Kovalam. Kovalam meaning the grove of coconut tree is indeed a right name for the place since there are plenty of coconut groves and its palm-fringed beaches give a perfect idea of relaxation to visiting tourists.
