Located adjacent to Purana Quila, Delhi zoo was established in 1959 and it occupies an area of 214 acres. Zoo has more than 2000 animals and different bird species from Asia, Africa, America and Australia. Each animal type is captivated in a large area ensuring their natural habitat.
Covered area is so large that it seems difficult to visit each captivity on foot hence there are number of zero carbon emission cabs that take you around the zoo at a cost of Rs. 25 per head. Eatabnles are not allowed inside and feeding to animals are strictly prohibited. But as you come out of the zoo, there are many restaurants where you can get variety of delicacies and beverages. Zoo remains open throughout the week except Friday and visiting hour is from 8 AM-6 PM during summer and from 9 AM-6 PM during winter season. Since, the area is perfectly peaceful with lots of greenery around, you can opt to go there with sole purpose of relaxation if not to view the birds and animals. |
